Booking and Arriving

Server:    Good evening, welcome to A-plus steakhouse. Do you have a reservation?

How many in your party?

Client:     Yes, I have booked a booth for two. It is under the name Amber Wu.

No, do you have a table for one?

Server:    Yes ma’am, right this way, please.

 

Beverages

Server:    Can I get you a drink?

Would you like to start with a drink?

May I get some drinks started for you?

Do you like anything to drink to start with?

Client:     Sure, let me take a look…

Just a water, without ice, please.

I’ll take a beer / a glass of red wine, please.

I’d like a coke / a soda / a lemonade / an orange juice.

 

Taking orders

Server:    Can I take your order?

Are you ready to order?

Client:     Not yet. We need another minute.

Not yet. I’m expecting company.

I’m having a hard time. What would you recommend?

Excuse me, what are your recommendations?

What are today’s specials?

Server:    We have a Friday night special combo meal.

Can I interest you in the tomato sandwich? It’s certified organic.

This set meal is very popular. And it’s half price today.

Client:     Great. I’ll take that.

Appetizer/ Starter

Server:    Would you like a starter?

Client:     What are the options?

What do you have?

Server:    We have Caesar salad, clam chowder, boneless wings, and mozzarella sticks.

Client:     I’ll have a Caesar salad.

 

Main course / Entrée / Main dish

Server:    What would you likes for your main course?

Client:     I’d like a grilled steak, please.

Server:    How would you like your steak done?

So how would you like that cooked?

Client:     Medium, please.

 

Side dish

Server:    What would you likes for your side?

Client:     What are the options?

What do you have?

Server:    We have French fries, mashed potatoes, onion rings, and deep-fried squid rings.

Client:      I’ll have some mashed potatoes then.

Server:    Alright. Your food will be coming right up!

 

************* 30 minutes went by…***************

Client:      Excuse me. Will my food be much longer?

 

When you are allergic to something…

Client:     Does this contain nuts/dairy?

I cannot eat nuts. Which dishes would you recommend for me?

Is there any seafood in this? I am allergic to seafood.

 

Dessert

Client:     I would like to have some dessert. Any suggestions?

Server:    The brownie is often ordered.

Client:      Awesome! Bring me one please.

Server:    Sure, I’ll be right back with your dessert.

 

Wrap-up / Bill / Check

Client:     May I get this to go?

Client:     Excuse me. I would like to take the rest. Can you give me a to-go box?

Client:     Excuse me. May I get the bill?

May I have the check please?

Could you check us out please?

Check, please.
